API Playgroup - Stream

This API playgroup was held at a local park with it's own water stream. It's man-made, but very cool for the kids - literally - that water was freezing!! Here are Sofia and Rhea (Alea's daughter) playing in the stream. It didn't seem to faze them at all!

DUDLEY - November 22, 2002 - August 9, 2009

We are soooooooo incredibly heartbroken over the death of our dear, dear, sweet, loving Dudley! He died Sunday afternoon. The vet at the emergency clinic says that it was most likely a cancerous tumor either on his spleen or liver (goldens and labs are apparently prone). That we know of, he never showed any signs of being sick. He still ate and drank water and ran and played and smiled and asked to be pet and walked. We miss him terribly. My heart hurts as I type this! The Friday before he died I thought to myself - I want to take a picture of Sofia with the dogs so that when she's older if she doesn't remember how much she loved them I could show her. Here is that picture of her with Dudley.

Kathy and Summer Visit

Kathy and Summer, my/our GREAT friends from Winston-Salem, came to visit us for the weekend. I feel like I could just sit and talk with them for hours and hours - and we did (I stayed up WAY too late both Friday and Saturday nights talking - suffered for it the next week :o)!!

Here we are hanging out at our neighborhood pool drinking Medalla (Puerto Rico's home brew). Nathan must think pretty highly of them to share it with them (he brought it back with him from PR)!!!! He also stayed home with both little girls while they napped so that I could go to the pool with the older girls :o). What a great hubby!

And here is Kathy taking a quick picture with her kids (Dudley and Rubi) before they left. She dog sat for us a billion times while we lived in Winston-Salem and would go out of town. She is their second mom.


Really all we did the whole weekend was hang out and talk! It was so awesome - with 2 little girls, I feel like I don't get a whole lot of time to just sit and talk, so it was a FANTASTIC weekend!!!!! Thanks for coming to visit us Kathy and Summer!! We love you.

Neighborhood Vigilantes

Well, I'll start this story by saying that we moved to the BIG CITY!! We bought a house inside the perimeter (ITP) in Atlanta in a "transitional" neighborhood - nice houses not far from not-so-nice houses! This day we heard a helicopter flying low over our house. Turns out the Atlanta Police was looking for a guy who stole a car. He drove the car to the entrance of our neighborhood - where he proceeded to crash the car, then take off on foot through our neighborhood to get away from the police. I went out back and saw a guy running across the empty lots behind our house. Then I saw 3 guys from the tennis courts chasing after him with their rackets!!!!! SERIOUSLY!! What if he had been carrying a gun?? Anyway, they caught him beat him down with their rackets (too bad I didn't have the video camera soon enough). About 2 minutes later we saw 2 Atlanta police officers on foot running through our neighborhood to catch him. We got pictures of the helicopter flying overhead and then the police car after they had the guy in it. And a video of all of the neighbors that came out to witness the event. NEVER A DULL MOMENT :o)

Lipstick

Sofia got into the lipstick that I left in the HOT car. 'Nuff said :o)
