Halloween 2008

This picture was taken at Deirdre's house on Halloween. Top row: Sofia, Ben & Owen (Deirdre's two sons). Bottom row: Kelsey (Stacy's baby) and Gabby (Deird's baby girl). We had fun playing! Sofia wore her piglet costume all day! We started out with a neighborhood playgroup at our house at 9 a.m. Then we went to Deirdre's to play then Linda and Doug came over that evening and went around with us to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood. She was so cute - we would knock on a door and she wanted to go inside (see video)!! Sofia lasted about 45 minutes before she was ready to be home and go to bed. What a GREAT day!!

Sofia's First Shoes

Abuelita Lila bought Sofia her first pair of shoes while we were in Puerto Rico! They are baby Clarks - soooo CUTE! She absolutely LOVES them!! She wakes up every morning and asks me to put them on her. I thought it would be difficult to get them to wear them - especially since he had gone more than a year without shoes - but not Sofia! She is a shoe hound already!

Here she is on the plane ride back to Atlanta with her new shoes!

Sofia Got her Ears Pierced!!

While we were in Puerto Rico, Sofia got her ears pierced! They do it at the pediatrician there and they do it so frequently for babies and toddlers (I had mine pierced at the hospital the day I was born!) that I felt more comfortable having it done there. She did really well. She cried for about 10 seconds after the first ear, and for about 2 seconds after the second one. The earrings have done really well . . . Sofia doesn't mess with them at all and they look really CUTE!!!

Sofia's First Haircut

My dad's had his haircut by Betsy for about 30 years - she's the one who gave Sofia her first haircut! Sofia did really well for about 90% of the haircut, then she'd had enough and I had to nurse her through the last of it!! Now she doesn't have to have the ponytail on top of her head all of the time to keep the hair out of her eyes! Awww! Isn't she a cutie ?!?!?!

Our 5 year Anniversary Celebration!

We had a weekend together in Puerto Rico to celebrate our 5 year anniversary! We stayed at a beach resort close to Mami's house so that she could keep Sofia for us for part of the time. In the picture above we were having a really nice morocan-themed dinner at a restaurant at the resort. Sofia did well with Abuelita up until the last 30 minutes of our dinner.

Making Paella at Tio Fernan's House

Making hired a "paellero" to make us a beautiful, yummy paella at Tio Fernan's house the night Nathan arrived in Puerto Rico. It was delicous!

It was also Gustavo's birthday (my cousin Zulmi's oldest son), so we sang him happy birthday.
